Professor Kontos has obtained a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Strathclyde University in Glasgow, a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Birmingham in Birmingham and a Post Doctorate Degree in Computer Science from the National Technical University of Athens. He has served as Director of the Computer Science Department of the National Research Centre “Demokritos” in Athens and as Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the Computer Science Department of the Athens University of Economics and Business and at the Department of Philosophy and History of Science of the University of Athens. He has published Over 90 journal and conference papers and two books on the subjects of Artificial Intelligence, Biomedical Language Technology, Machine Learning, Text Mining, Question Answering, Knowledge Discovery from Texts and Meta-cognitive Systems.
